Calculate your Weight-for-Height Score (BMI)



Your answers to the following 2 questions are used to calculate a Weight for Height Score or "Body Mass Index" (BMI).  Body Mass Index estimates whether your weight is appropriate for your height. Your BMI, calculated automatically when you click on the Calculate BMI button below, will give you an indication of whether your weight is appropriate for your height, and if you are too heavy or too thin.  If your BMI is outside the healthy weight range you could benefit from advice from and an EthiCal Nutrition counsellor.

Limitations of the BMI ranges shown in the table below are when they are used for heavily muscled people (body builders),  people from particular ethnic groups, or people less than 16 years of age.

Less than 18 Less than 17 VERY UNDERWEIGHT BEWARE, the result indicates that you are too thin for your height and at an increased risk of developing health problems
Between 18 & 19.9 Between 17 & 18.9 UNDERWEIGHT The result shows that you are underweight for your height and you could afford to weigh a little more
Between 20 & 24.9 Between 19 & 23.9 Healthy Weight Range You are within the healthy weight range for your height. 
Between 25 & 29.9 Between 24 & 29.9 OVERWEIGHT The result indicates that you are possibly at increased risk of health problems.  If you are concerned, get help now!
Greater than 30 Greater than 30 OBESE BEWARE, the result indicates that you are too heavy for your height and at a high risk of developing health problems. I recommend that you seek help now!
